Why is my accounting period longer or shorter than 12 months?

Your company accounts and tax return must be filed after the end of each accounting period, the date they are due is set by Companies House. In your company's case, this is the 31st of December of every year.

In the first year, your accounting period will run from the incorporation date of your company to 31st December and therefore may be slightly more or less than 12 months.

Subsequent accounting periods will run from 1 January - 31 December.

You can expect a reminder from us when it's time to file your company accounts and we will guide you through what information we need from you to complete this.
