Can I pay an interim dividend to myself only?

Interim dividends should be distributed to all shareholders in the company according to each shareholder’s respective ownership percentage. This is calculated by the number of shares each shareholder owns in the company.

For example, if you own 50% of your company’s shares and another shareholder owns the remaining 50%, then you are entitled to 50% of any interim dividend payment. In this scenario, if your company has £2,000 of distributable profits, and declares an interim dividend for that amount you will receive an interim dividend payment of £1,000 and the other shareholder in the company will also receive an interim dividend payment of £1,000.

Please note that interim dividends must be paid to all shareholders in the company and cannot be paid to only certain shareholders.
